Fragaria vesca

Dried strawberry leaves can be steeped as strawberry leaf tea, blended into herbal infusions, and used in topical applications. They contain Vitamin C, iron, flavonoids, tannins, and phenolic compounds such as elagic acid and caffeic acid, which contribute to their high antioxidant capacity. These bioactive compounds have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral, and anti-cancer effects.

Strawberry Leaf tea is beneficial for the female reproductive system, including easing PMS symptoms, moderating a heavy flow, and lessening cramps. The analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties make them beneficial for arthritis, rheumatism, and joint discomfort. The leaves are a gentle diuretic, making them good for kidney and urinary health.

To make your own caffeine-free tea, steep 1 to 2 tsp. of dried strawberry leaves in 8 ounces of hot water for 5 – 10 minutes. Botanicals, herbs, or spices may also be added, such as sweet cinnamon chips, mulling spices, turmeric, sage leaf, lemon balm leaf, jasmine, or rose. Black or green teas can also be added to enjoy their health benefits and a little pick-me-up.
