Rosmarinus officinalis

Native to the Mediterranean and naturalized worldwide, rosemary leaf is most recognized as a culinary spice. Historically, it was known for its healthful uses and folklore, especially as a memory aid. The smell of rosemary is piney and fresh; familiar but also distinctive. It is baked into breads and crackers, and is classically used as a rub for pork and lamb. Dried rosemary leaves can be infused into oils and vinegars, and incorporated into herbal tea blends. The younger leaves are preferred for a sweeter flavor, standing up well to cooking, even at high temperatures.
Rosemary can be used in cosmetic formulations for skin, scalp and hair. Try adding it to one of our clays for a nourishing, natural facemask. It can be infused in alcohol or witch hazel for use in making perfumes and colognes. Additionally, the liquid extract of rosemary is used as an antioxidant and preservative.
