Pipsissewa

organic

Chimaphila umbellata

Pipsissewa roots have a history of traditional use in herbal tonics and root beer flavoring. Pipsissewa herb can be decocted as tea, extracted, or prepared for topical application.

Pipsissewa leaves have very little scent until they are rubbed to release a pleasant but mildly “puckery” odor. Their taste is described as bittersweet, astringent, and woody with distinct hints of wintergreen and vanilla. They have traditionally been used to support overall kidney and urinary wellness, or applied topically for soothing the skin.

Using Pipsessewa for a long time can cause vomiting, ringing in the ears, confusion, or seizures. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid taking it. We recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications.
