Dried Fruit, organic

Botanical name Annona muricata

Soursop, also known as guanabana, graviola, Brazilian paw paw, or custard apple, has long been used by traditional healers. Soursop leaves were mostly used for relaxation tea, managing colds, fever reduction, and anti-inflammatory purposes. The antioxidants found in Soursop — tannins, phytosterols, and flavonoids — help fight free radicals in the body, reducing inflammation and oxidation that damages cells. Soursop also has anti-bacterial properties.

Soursop fruit is sweet and aromatic, with a fragrance similar to pineapple. The taste has been likened to a blend of strawberries, citrus, and pineapple.
Soursop fruit is high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It is a good source of B Vitamins, Folate, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, and Vitamin C. The fruit is believed to help with digestion, diabetes, and hypertension*.

Soursop contains a compound called annonacin that has been shown to have neurotoxic effects. For this reason, Soursop should not be consumed in large quantities. Pregnant women and people with, or predisposed to, Parkinson’s should avoid Soursop.

*Soursop has the potential to interact with, or decrease effectiveness of, certain medications, such as anticoagulant and blood pressure medications. As with any herb or medicine, we encourage you to consult a medical professional before consuming Soursop.
