Ginkgo

leaves, cut and sifted

Dried Ginkgo leaves can be used in teas, capsules, and extracts. The taste has been described as both pleasant and astringent, with a woody, spicy, sweetness. Ginkgo is frequently blended with green tea, gotu kola, lemon balm, rosemary, sage, and ginseng to enhance taste and benefits.

Rich in flavonoids, Ginkgo biloba combats oxidative stress and reduces inflammation. Ginkgo also contains a terpenoid that widens blood vessels, reduces platelet “stickiness,” and keeps blood moving. Ginkgo has traditionally been used to enhance memory and improve cognitive symptoms in dementia and Alzheimer’s. It is believed to improve stress and mood disorders such as anxiety, depression, and headaches.

Please consult a medical professional before incorporating Ginkgo into your diet. As with any herb or spice, medications and diseases may be impacted by use.
