Theobroma cacao

Cacao Nibs: organic

Cacao nibs are the crunchy, raw, broken pieces of the cacao bean after it has been fermented and dried.
Cacao nibs are rich in flavonoids, powerful antioxidants that protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. This may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease and cancer.

Cacao Powder: organic

Cacao powder is made from cacao beans (and sometimes nibs) that are ground into a paste, and then the fat (cacao butter) is extracted during a cold-press process. Because it is minimally processed and not exposed to high temperatures, cacao powder retains a wide variety of phytonutrients and antioxidants. Theobromine, a stimulant found in cacao powder, promotes alertness and mood. Cacao powder provides more nutrition than cocoa powder and can be a healthier substitute in recipes.

Cacao Shells: organic

Cacao shells, the fibrous outer husks of the cacao bean, contain lower, but still significant, amounts of polyphenols and other bioactive compounds. Cacao shells are typically steeped to make cacao husk tea, and contain theobromine, a slow-release stimulant that provides gentle energy without the crash associated with caffeine.

Cacao Beans: whole

Our whole cacao beans are unprocessed and dried at a low temperature in order to preserve the most beneficial properties from the edible seed as possible. Many enjoy eating the whole bean as is, or by coarsely grinding and incorporating into beverage blends and homemade trail mixes. Raw cacao is rich in flavonoids, a type of antioxidant that protects cells from damage caused by free radicals. This can help reduce inflammation, improve immune function, and slow down aging. The flavonoids in raw cacao can improve blood flow to the brain and enhance cognitive function. Studies suggest it may help improve memory, focus, and attention.
